They were busy with their daily tasks when they were taken ill. One hundred employees of a textile factory, located in the North, were taken to the emergency hospital SSR at Pamplemousses., Friday, Dec. 20
It appears that these employees would have breathed the gas used in the process of dyeing clothes.
