National Housing Development Company Ltd (NHDC) is responsible for setting up this government project involving the construction of 580 residential units across the country. There are two types of housing under this program. The first is for those who are at the bottom and the second target the middle class. The project in Pointe-aux-Piments is estimated at Rs 65 million, of which Rs 32 million for the construction of 61 housing and Rs 33 million for the development of support infrastructure, including systems drain and paved roads.
The price of each unit will be less than Rs 650,000. The site is located less than a mile from the public beach and hotels. For social housing, the NHDC has initiated procedures to build 258 houses, including 83 at Grand Bois and surrounding areas, 73 Chebel City, Cottage 56 and 46 at Beau Bois. The project is estimated at Rs 450 M. The goal is to enable 20,000 families earning less than Rs 10,000 per month to have a home. This will be achieved in 10 years.
