UOM: New Team Presents Its Projects
Several major projects will be implemented in the near future at the University of Mauritius (UoM).

The new management team of the University met the press on Tuesday to discuss the restructuring measures and present projects. Speaker, Professor Romeela Mohee, Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the UoM has distinguished itself by the quality of its research and has contributed enormously to the development of the country. She noted that many graduates practicing today in different spheres. And pointed out that 168 students have opted for a MPhil / PhD in UoM at the end of December 2013. She also announced the upcoming opening of a 'Doctoal School' at UoM to promote research and mentor students. In May, she said, a research symposium will be organized and will bring together leading academics.

Continuing, the Vice-Chancellor Romeela Moheea reported another major project, namely the establishment of an 'African School of Public Policy / Leadership' on campus for senior officials in the region Africa. This new structure will develop the African continent in distance, the 'short courses' and masters courses and also support research projects. The team of Professor Mohee also focuses on a 'Graduate Tracer Study' to highlight the various opportunities that arise hiring graduates.

Professor Romeela Mohee added that the campus Reduit collaborate with international universities for exchange and joint programs. She concluded by saying that by December, the university will sign a 'Magna Charta Universitatum' by December. For his part, Professor Soodursun Jugessur has an overview of several realizations. He put forward reform proposals for economic development. And stressed that the UoM has created more than 40,000 graduates. He said that the university has to acquire new building, which will serve as classrooms for a larger number of students. He said that facilities are provided for less able students so that they have greater mobility on campus.

Health and safety conditions have improved in the interest of students. For the most needy students, UOM helped 229 of them with the help of the private sector. The laboratories have also been reviewed and new equipment. Soodursun Jugessur has also elaborated on the recent article of plagiarism in a newspaper about a member of the university. He referred to an anonymous letter in this regard. He said he checked the contents of this article on the Internet and the news is completely false. He added that some want to tarnish the image of the University of Mauritius.
