The Board of Investment (BOI) is organising the Mauritius International Investment Forum (MIIF) from June 15 to 16 at Intercontinental Resort, Balaclava, to mark its 10th anniversary as the official investment promotion agency of the government.
According to the BOI, it is the first conference on investment of this magnitude to be held here. The conference forms part of a strategy to showcase the investment opportunities in Mauritius and to position the island as the investment and business gateway between Asia and Africa.
According to the BOI, several key international speakers have confirmed their participation in MIIF, namely Lord Meghnad Desai of the UK House of Lords and Professor Paul Romer of Stanford University in the United States.
High-calibre businessmen and investors mainly from Europe, India, China, the Middle East and Africa will also be present. The forum will be in two parts.
On June, 15, the participants will focus on the investment opportunities in Mauritius which is also the “number one ease-of-doingbusiness destination in Africa according to the World Bank”. On June 16, emerging global investment trends will be discussed.
Several local personalities will also intervene during MIIF, including the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Mr Nando Bodha, the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Mr Rundheersing Bheenick, the President of the Joint Economic Council, Mr Louis Rivalland, and the Chairman of BOI, Mr Maurice Lam.
The closing ceremony will be marked by the Mauritius Visionary Award following a project competition organised by BOI among upper secondary students.
