He has more than enough of the controversy created by "politicians" around the diplomas issued by the institution. Sunil Jeetah, the director of the Mauritian branch of EIILM University, wants to silence once and for all charges to the effect that he is to deceive the 400 students who chose to trust him.
"The university was founded in India by an Act of Parliament. Here, I only deal in recruitment and management of the local branch. All examination papers come from Sikkim and it is so that diplomas are not issued in India in Mauritius as it is for Cambridge, " says Sunil Jeetah.
Recently, allegations against the Mauritian subsidiary of the University took EIILM proportions and Tuesday, December 6, the Indian daily Times of India returned to this case. He plays on words, stating that "the degrees offered by the campus of Mauritius are not valid."
The Times of India returns to a parliamentary question Nando Bodha, a member of Militant Socialist Movement (MSM), and argues that students who wish to travel to Europe to pursue their studies will be penalized. The newspaper also mentions that the University EIILM never approached the regulatory body of Indian universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC) as part of its project to establish a branch in Mauritius.
The EIILM University has itself created in 2006, has made the commissioning of its Mauritian subsidiary the following year and received its accreditation from the UGC in 2008. The problem is that, according to the rules of the UGC, a university can not open a campus abroad if not at least 5 years old.
"There is no problem with that. The problem is political. The property is attacked because my brother is a minister of Higher Education. I am the director, " said Sunil Jeetah The Times of India. In the same paper, the Tertiary Education Commission explains why it has given the green light to the local branch of the University EIILM: according to the laws of Mauritius, the green light can be given to such an institution if it is already recognized in his country of origin.
