Case Varma: Maurice Allet Resigned from MPA
Maurice Allet, resigned as president of the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) on Tuesday July 16. His leaving comes two weeks after his arrest in the Varma case.

After long hesitation, Maurice Allet, resigned the presidency of the MPA, Tuesday, July 16. He was arrested on July 2 for conspiracy in the Varma case. Also president of SIMDUT, power, with Labour, he met in the morning leader SIMDUT, Xavier Duval. 

The Labour Party, through its president, had hoped to hint, this resignation. The President of PTr Patrick Assirvaden, had declared that "Maurice Allet is a man of honour, you know what that means" .

Maurice Allet is the third person arrested in connection with investigations of the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) for obstructing the course of the investigation into the case Varma. He is suspected of having participated in the negotiations and alleged financial arrangements, in order to cancel a complaint for assault registered against the former Minister of Justice, Yatin Varma.

Florent Jeannot, a 19 year old student, had the charges against the former Attorney General after an alleged assault stemming from a road accident that occurred on May 4.
