For Ryan Stone, Ph.D. medical engineering is the great adventure. Board as a specialist in his first mission aboard the Space Shuttle Explorer, she made her first spacewalk. He is a veteran, Matt Kowalski, accompanying for its first step into the vacuum and the two are expected to perform repairs to the Hubble telescope. But while they are out, Huston warns the mission a shot of Russian missile on a dilapidated satellite caused a chain reaction and a "burst" of debris coming in their direction. Then there is silence. And debris arrive, pulling Ryan Stone to the shuttle, taking into space. She barely caught by Matt Kowalski, and both fail to return the shuttle. It is damaged, the whole crew is dead and no equipment is used. To survive, the two cosmonauts absolutely have to win the International Space Station, which is located 100km from their position
