The new union of port workers, the PLME has initiated a dialogue with the management of CHC for the signing of an agreement Procedural.
The management of the corporation has submitted a document containing the union's proposals for the agreement to govern future negotiations between management and worker representatives. Some proposals of CHC on the relationship between the press and trade unionists are being challenged by them.
The PLME who won union recognition last February 16 after a long battle before the Employment Relations Tribunal (ERT) was immediately initiated procedures leading to the signing of an agreement with Procedural management of CHC .
The PLME is the fifth largest trade union founded in the port sector. His arrival on the scene has significantly weakened the Port Louis Habour and Docks Worker Union (PLHDWU) founded in the early 70s and was far the most powerful labor union in this sector.
