Hemant Kumar Ramsaran won his case against his former employer three years after being fired. Magistrate Nicholas Ohsan-Bellepeau, president of the Industrial Court, awarded him compensation at the rate of punishment.
Checking the facts and arguments, the magistrate Nicholas Ohsan-Bellepeau concluded to answer the claim. He then summoned Mauritius Telecom Ltd. to pay compensation of Rs 679 984.91 plus interest of 12% on the rate of punitive damages from the date of Ramsaran's layoff.
