Mauritians will have a one-off opportunity to discover the natural reserves and “domains” in the south of the island on July 2 and 3 thanks to a promotional campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure. The “Decouverte du Grand Sud” aims at making Mauritians discover places which are relatively little known. The main attraction will be an initiation to golf. The “Decouverte du Grand Sud” will take place in four villages – Baie du Cap, Bel Ombre, St Felix and St Aubin. According to Tourism Minister Nando Bodha, children will be encouraged to play golf, a sport usually associated with the rich. A “mega concert” will be held on Saturday on the football ground of Saint Martin. Bruno Raya, Linzy Bacbotte, Alain Ramanisum, the group Zot Sa, Grup Natir de Chamarel and Nalini Dance Group will be the main performers. Visitors will also have the opportunity to appreciate the Cuisine des Chefs du Grand Sud at the Mill of Bel Ombre on Sunday. A visit at the Chateau of Bel Ombre is also on the agenda. Other activities include walks at Domaine Chazal in St Felix, visit to La Maison St Aubin for a tasting of Fangourin (a by-product of molasses) and the tea of Bois Cheri.
