4 laureates of the Higher School Certificate rewarded

As part of the City Festival, Port Louis rewarded four laureates of the Higher School Certificate during a ceremony at the town hall. This was held on July 15.

Three girls and one boy were honoured. These were Karen Steffi Cheung Jung Shing, Pratisha Ramtale, Chandnee Ramkissoon and Danny Michaël Onsiong.

The winners were rewarded with an iPad and a greeting card from the municipality of Port Louis.

These students will now travel abroad to pursue their studies in England, except for Karen Steffi who was represented by her family at the ceremony. She is already in Australia, since her classes started last week.”We rewarded four winners of Port Louis. We take pride in our tradition to encourage young people to go further. They need to learn new skills but should also not forget to come back to use their skills in their country,” said the mayor of Port Louis, Mamade Khodabaccus.

The laureates said that they have realised that the hardest part for them begins now. “I thank the school, teachers and the city council, the mayor of Port Louis who were always there to give advice,” said Pratisha, who will travel to England to pursue economics
