National Geographic Channel: A Tale of Brigene Young highlights her naivety

She has served a sentence of eight years in prison in Beau Bassin.

The story of National Geographic Channel has certainly not had a very revealing. Setter South African Brigene Young talks about " her ordeal "but the show demonstrates, at the same time, his naivety for agreeing to wear a pair of shoes full of drugs against a dream trip to Mauritius.

In the show when it starts Brigene Young is addressed at the bar where she works by a man named Cijay, at a party. The latter asked him to wear shoes with wedge heels and fly for a week's holiday in Mauritius. " He looked so relaxed. I agreed and took a bag from which he pulled out the pair of shoes he gave me. Then he gave me a SIM card and a contact number when I arrived in Mauritius , "says the young woman.

Brigene Young therefore takes the plane to Mauritius. A journey sprinkled with Vodka which does not prevent him from feeling an anxiety to Plaisance airport. But the bartender says also, that despite these doubts, she wanted to make the trip. Having set foot in Mauritius, she says she noticed that the men were watching a suspicious air.

" I forced myself to look happy. It was hard. My gaze was fixed on them. I saw all the other passengers take their bags and leave. I'm supposed to like them but I know it will not happen like that , "she said.

Later in the documentary, we learn that these men are actually detectives of the anti-drug brigade. They shut it off at the airport. " At this point, I thought it was all over. You played a game and you lost , "she says.

The men of the drug squad asked the young woman to remove her shoes. They perforate the sole and a white powder emerges: 896.9 grams of heroin in his possession were hidden.

Then begins its " cooperation "with police after she said she did not know that the shoes contained drugs. She agrees to take them to contact local Cijay in exchange for his freedom.

By order of the South African smuggler, Brigene Young goes to the hotel Ambre. From there, Cijay was brought into contact with the dealer Mauritius. The latter will join her in the evening to take the shoes. She was accompanied police to a controlled delivery.

However, at the time to show the scene where she gives the shoes to the trafficker Mauritian Brigene Young says that the police attempted to arrest the smuggler who was in his car while they were on foot. She even added that she found it ridiculous gesture on the part of police.

The police have not been able to get hold of the dealer Mauritius, Brigene will spend the night in jail. She shares the cell with two other inmates, Nazima and Marie-France. She says the police asked him to participate in an identification parade of the trafficker.

In the show, suspects are in an open space in broad daylight and the young woman had to travel between the men to finally say that she recognized no one. However, she said that at the end of the year, she noted a detail from one of the suspects: a gold tooth. She knew that it was the dealer but it was too late.

It is repeated in cell and learns that she will be sentenced to 45 years in prison. Overnight, then Brigene Young recalled that he hears screams from the men's prison. She said they were being raped and no one intervened.

For his part, Young Brigene serving his sentence along with several other young women who have suffered the same fate. Some inject their doses of drugs with used syringes. She also speaks of altercations she had with another inmate.

Meanwhile, the court decides to reduce his sentence to seven years. In 2010, she learned the good news. It can then return home. She found her sister, she left without explanation. The show ends on the images of reunion.
