An Earthquake 5.1 Recorded at 308 km Rodrigues

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 6 20 this Thursday, Feb. 16, at 308 km northeast of Rodrigues 890 km north-northeast of Mauritius.

The news was confirmed by Radio Plus weather station Vacoas.However, no tsunami warning was issued on the island.

According to the station Vacoas, there is no formal report at this stage to confirm whether the earthquake was felt in the island or not.

This is not a strange phenomenon in this part of the Indian Ocean. Several earthquakes have been recorded off Rodrigues in recent years.
