This will offer classes and services starting from kindergarten to secondary levels and will be built near Roches Noires. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2014.
Chief executive officer of IOREC, Murray Adair, stated to The Independent, “The school will offer the standard English curriculum, as well as the International Baccalaureate. We believe that the project will appeal to Mauritians and expatriates alike. The market research conducted suggests there is a potential of nearly 1,500 children in the catchment area.”
The aim of this project is three-pronged, namely, to benefit the community at Azuri, one of IOREC’s real estate projects near Roches Noires, to support and establish
Mauritius as a hub for educational excellence, and to improve educational standards to develop a qualified workforce for the 21st century.
This new venture will focus on a ‘holistic’ education, with emphasis on sports and arts. Adair said, “We do believe this will be the first school to offer Oceanography along with sports activities like sailing, scuba diving and kayaking, in addition to the traditional options like rugby, cricket and field hockey.”
