The Computerized Land Registry to Stop Bad Practices in Real Estate

The Minister of Lands and Housing, Abu Kasenally presented this weekend, the Land Administration and Valuation Information Management System (LAVIMS). How this system the public interest? Simply by allowing it access to practical information about the properties of the country.

This project was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Finance and the Western Land Information Authority (Landgate) with funding of Rs 300 million.

LAVIMS will need the 24 officers who received training within the department and, according to Minister Kasenally 10 other students will be recruited to strengthen the workforce. Each field in Mauritius will be provided with a Parcel Identification Number (PIN) thus reducing the administrative problems and cases of expropriation.
