Internet: ICT Minister Announces Lower Tariffs...
Internet users can expect lower rates of Internet in the near future. It is the Minister of Information technology and communication (ICT), Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, who announced this Monday, July 30, 2012.

Competition in the ICT sector will encourage the reduction of internet tariffs in a few months. Tassarajen  Pillay Chedumbrum, minister, says that this sector is increasingly dynamic in Mauritius.

We are announcing lower fares every year. In 2012, there will inevitably be a further drop since we now have a new operator, namely Bharat Telecom, and the SAFE cable is no longer subject to a monopoly. This is what will lead to lower prices , "said Pillay Tassarajen Chedumbrum.

The last cut rates back to 1 December 2011. The Minister of ICT had reported a decline of 12% to 46% on Home and ADSL charges 50% on ADSL Business. However, the percentage decline for 2012 has not yet been set.
