Cambridge Decides To Withdraw SC History Subject
The management of Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) is surprised by the announcement of Cambridge International Examinations, which has decided to no longer offer “History for Mauritius” courses to Mauritian candidates in 2014 for the O level examinations.

The decision was taken due to very low participation in this subject.

However, director of MES Lucien Finette pointed out that this subject covers our national history. He said: “I have asked them to review their decision.” Adding: “I object to their decision and I have already sent a letter to Cambridge stating this.”

The director of MES agrees that history is neglected by students due to other subjects which provide more scope in the labour market, but he does not approve of the decision to withdraw the subject.
