Hundred Courses Available for Students Holding a School Certificate

Nearly a hundred courses are available for those who choose to abandon to school for vocational training.

Accounting courses are the most popular with students because they see many opportunities.

A Career Fair has also been organized by ACCA Mauritius last week to allow students who expect their results to SC and Higher School Certificate (HSC) to make a choice of study.

Present at the Career Fair, Mathura Sham indicates that training centers, such as Middlesex University Campus and the Charles Telfair Mauritius Institute of Foundation Courses provide to help young people who for some reason can not continue their studies side. Students undergo training for one year before joining a university degree. There should be between Rs 50,000 and Rs 100,000 for one year.

"Recently, courses leading to certification are available with ACCA Foundation Course in Accounting. With O Level, a curriculum is available for an accountant recognized. Open Access Course, offered by my training center provides students with work experience only to start these courses , "said the director of the School of Accounting BSP.

These will cost around Rs 30,000. And after the Foundation Course in Accounting, they may continue their studies at the ACCA to become Chartered Accountants. Computer courses, including Networking, Software Application and Customer Care, also attract many young people.

Large outsourcing companies recruit, in fact, young people, train them and encourage them to continue their studies. Several training centers, including the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) offer a variety of courses in ICT, except those leading to a university degree. It takes, on average, pay Rs 30,000 or more in a private institution.

Other young people are turning to professional training at the Sir Gaetan Duval Hotel School or Swami Dayanand School of Management, under the responsibility of MITD. A Certificate in Human Resource Management is particularly proposed.

For its part, the University of Technology of Mauritius provides training for a 'top up', equivalent to HSC. This allows students to get a university degree.

The University of Mauritius has it, courses leading to a certificate and a diploma. And to make education more accessible, it accepts applications from mature students under certain conditions and in certain sectors only - medicine and law do not belong.
