Maurice observe April 1 bereavement national holiday and that day will be. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, at a press conference about the tragic floods that have shocked the population.

"We decided to enact this holiday to observe a day of national mourning," Navin Ramgoolam announced on Sunday afternoon, April 30, at Clarisse House, and in the wake of floods that killed nine people and caused to extensive damage to infrastructure.
"Tomorrow (Editor's note: Monday) leaders will meet to ensure the rehabilitation and social support for victims in tragic circumstances. You should know that the government has invested over Rs 500 million in the drain work in the capital, " said Navin Ramgoolam.
The Prime Minister argued that Vacoas meteorological services could not foresee such damage.
Different authorities are yet to take stock of these elements. Schools, meanwhile, have not suffered major damage. Schools will reopen Tuesday, April 2. The non-teaching staff, however, is expected in schools for cleaning on Monday April 1st.
