Vasant Bunwaree said there are major changes in investment, with the Chinese worth more to Africa and Mauritius, given its strategic location. "It is imperative that more children learn Mandarin to work with both China and Africa," said Vasant Bunwaree.
Monique Ohsan-Bellepeau, Vice-President of the Republic, said that Mandarin is a business language and the need to encourage children to learn. She also spoke of diplomatic relations with China through which Maurice had several advantages, including financial assistance to carry out infrastructure projects.
Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius, Li Li, thanked the Government of Mauritius to offer so many facilities for students to learn Mandarin.
Jiang Zhenxiao, director of the Chinese Cultural Centre, said that his institution has a very important role in the popularization of Chinese culture in Mauritius and will continue to innovate to further enrich the cultural presence in Mauritius.
29 elementary students, 12 students SC and five HSC students were rewarded for their performance in examinations of Mandarin during the ceremony organized by the Chinese Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Alumni Association of Chinese Universities and the Association Teachers of Mandarin.
