Fire in the Moscow Metro: 4500 Evacuees
Some 4,500 people were evacuated this Wednesday, June 5 after a fire apparently caused by a cable that caught fire in the Moscow metro, and four people were hospitalized, said the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"The fire in the tunnel Okhotny Ryad station (close to the Kremlin, ed) has been mastered. Nearly 4,500 people were evacuated, " the ministry said in a statement.

"Thirty-one people were sent to the emergency services for medical aid and four people were hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning" , the ministry said quoted by Russian news agencies.

"A cable caught fire" in the tunnel, said ministry spokesman Viktor Biryukov, adding that he was "too early to establish the cause of the fire."

"Doctors and psychologists were dispatched to assist passengers. They need water to wash your face, " said Mr. Biryukov on Rossia 24 chain.

Several stations serving the center of the capital were closed, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
