Nightclubs: Stricter Rules to Follow

"It will be issued by the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development and will be considered by private consultants in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment," said an officer of the Ministry of the Environment to Le Matinal.

He added that the PER is valid only for the operators of clubs and private clubs. According to him, once its approved by the Tourism Authority operation permit, the applicant may obtain a license which is valid only for one year. The criteria for the PER include adequate security, insulation against any emanation of noise, exits and provision of fire pumps.

"The Tourism Authority will take all sanctions against clubs who do not have a PER," he said. This will be beneficial as some operators working illegally.

"Some operators have to pay more than Rs 100,000 per year for the copyright and the license to the exclusion of 15 percent of the value added tax, while those operating illegally do not pay. This is unfair, "he said.
