The purpose of such a bill aims to require the owners of supermarkets and 'Shopping Malls' to arrange to have a system of sewage pipe, protect natural watercourses and use light bulbs, among others.
The Ministry of Environment has decided to amend the Environment Protection Act (EPA) because problems have been reported with respect to wastewater from the Shopping Malls, including unpleasant odors. The wastewater is discharged into rivers. The ministry wants to stop this practice not to contaminate groundwater and streams.
The Environment Minister, Deva Virahsawmy, confirmed the news. "The State Law Office examines the bill to provide for fines for those who do not comply with this law. "We do not want to stop development, but we want to ensure that this is done in an environmentally. Facilities will be available to developers to prepare their EIA. "This bill will also cover new grinds. "We will strengthen control measures for grinds built. A ministry team will see if the sponsor complies with the provisions of the EIA license. We will take action against those who do not follow the rules. "A committee was established to study the grinds which developers have already sold their land.
