Vacoas: Municipal Tax Increases

The inhabitants of the town of Vacoas-Phoenix will have to pay more for municipal tax from next year. It will suffer a 25% increase next year, 20% in 2015 and 16% in 2016.

"The mayor has a lot of expenses especially with the recent report of the PRB and maintenance of the city," says Menon Yetty, mayor of the town of Vacoas-Phoenix. It is for this reason that the city council decided Thursday, Nov. 7, to increase the municipal tax. It will suffer a 25% increase in 2014. And it will increase another 20% in 2015 and 16% in 2016.

"We need revenue," added the mayor . Revenues are expected to increase by Rs 5 million in 2014 and Rs 15 million within three years, with the increase of the municipal tax.
