NEW DELHI, Dec 16 In a bid to expand its strategic footprint in the Indian Ocean, India is mulling to include Mauritius and Seychelles in a trilateral security group which also include Maldives and Sri Lanka, Xinhua news agency reported citing local media report Monday.

Senior officials of the trilateral security group will meet this Thursday to prepare the ground for a formal joining of these countries, 'The Times of India' newspaper reported.

India's Deputy National Security Advisor Nehchal Sandhu will lead the Indian delegation, the report said.

The inclusion of the two island nations would happen as early as before the general elections slated for May 2014, the newspaper added.
