Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam National Hospital (SSRN) will be a new intensive care department that will accommodate ten patients simultaneously. The Minister of Health Lormus Bundhoo think this department will be operational from March.

"Our goal is the well-being of patients and especially to modernize the health care system to provide better service," said Minister Bundhoo to Le Matinal recently.

Several projects are currently underway at SSRN hospital including the construction of a block for emergencies at a cost of Rs 138 million and work on the drainage system at a cost of Rs 118 million rupees.

"We want to bring new facilities, advanced technologies and new infrastructure. All hospitals will change, "said the minister. He also stressed that as it was announced in the budget, a budget of Rs 566 million is provided for the construction of a new block of four new 'wards' with a capacity of 120 beds at Victoria Hospital. There will also build six new operating theaters at Victoria Hospital.

"To make the health services closer to the population , there are three build 'Mediclinics at a cost of Rs 38 million and two Community Health Centres," he said.
