With an extended runway and a new terminal with a double bridge, the SSR airport is the first in the region to accommodate large aircraft. Since December 16, Emirates operates daily airbus A380 between its base and Piacenza. The Airbus took off from Dubai at 3:10 to arrive at 9:40 am and departs Mauritius at 18h20 to ask the next day at 1:10.
The A380 is currently the largest commercial airliner passenger service and the third largest aircraft in the history of aviation, after the Hughes H-4 Hercules and Antonov An-225. The upper deck of the A380 extends the entire length of the fuselage, giving the cabin area 50% more than its direct competitor, the Boeing 747 to 4008. This unit can accommodate 14 passengers in first, 76 in business class and 427 in economy, or 517 seats in total.
The Boeing 787 can carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on configuration and is more fuel efficient, a lower consumption of 20% to that of an Airbus A330 or Boeing 7774.
