250,000 Identity Cards Already Issued

Ten conversion centers across the country are located in Port-Louis (44 rue Labourdonnais), Goodlands (VIP Commercial Village), Flacq (La Source), Rose-Hill (NPF Building, Moka Road), Bambous (Allée Tamarin), Quatre-Bornes (28 Vacoas Road, La Louise), Vacoas (Avenue Indépendance - New Municipal Building vis-à-vis du marché de Vacoas), Mahébourg (Les Mariannes Street), Chemin-Grenier (Royal Road, Camp Charlot), and Ébène (Cyber Tower 1, Cyber City).

"Three other centers including Triolet, in Curepipe and the ground floor of the Emmanuel Anquetil Building, just opened the door. With the last center, we estimate that about 500 identity cards will be removed per day, "said Rao Ramah, Project Director of Mauritius National Identity Scheme (MNIS). In addition to the conversion centers, the MNIS also has ten 'Mobile Units' which can go in different regions of the country. Officers encourage people to withdraw their identity card. Soon, a team will leave at Agalega to launch the identity cards of those who live.
