Unions: CHC Employees Vote for PLMEA
The Port Louis Maritime Employees Association (PLMEA) won with 742 votes. Employees of the Cargo Handling Corporation chose this union to represent entity with management for one year. The referendum, which was held over two days, ended this Thursday, March 6.

Of the 1,352 employees, 1,259 voters were registered. They had to choose between PLMEA and the consortium of four other unions. It garnered 499 votes. In addition, 18 ballots were cancelled because they were incorrectly filled.

These consultations were organized by the Employment Relations Tribunal at the request of the PLMEA who wanted to have exclusive recognition in terms of representativeness.
