PM Announces Granting of Rs 13,500 to Each Eldery
In his speech to the people on the occasion of the National Day, the Prime Minister announced that from the beginning of April, each elderly person will receive an old-age pension of 13,500 rupees. He added that it was a promise he made and kept.

He also announced that, based on seniority and years of service, 1,785 police officers will be promoted. This will make it possible, he stressed, to recruit police officers.

Pravind Jugnauth said he had no doubt that the country was moving in the right direction because people can see the development in every island of the Republic.

He recalled that this was his first full term as Prime Minister and that he was fully satisfied with what he had achieved.

He insisted that his main priorities are stability and peace. He insisted he is confident a silent majority agrees with him.

He also spoke about the developments in Agalega, thanks to India, and in Rodrigues.

He deplored the fact that the United Kingdom had still not complied with the decision of the International Court of Justice.

He also appealed to young Mauritians to choose modern paths in education.
