Solar Water Heater: 10,000 New Beneficiaries in January

"The procedures must be done quickly so that recipients can enjoy them for the next winter," said a source close to the Government House. A new program allocation of Rs 10,000 for buying a solar water heater will begin in January. 10,000 people are involved.

It is under the National Housing Fund of the Ministry of Housing and Lands that this exercise will be carried out with the assistance of the Fund Maurice Ile Durable (MID). After the vote on the Budget 2014, a sum of Rs 100 million was made available to the MID.

At this stage it is not clear whether the public will have to register again or if the ministry will work from a list of people who have enjoyed the last season in October. They were more than 39 000 to register, only 19,757 beneficiaries. The same criteria as in previous seasons, however, should be applied. 

To date, 58,900 households have already benefited from the subsidy of Rs 10,000. It should be noted that the grant program solar water heater has allowed the state to save Rs 54.2 million. The detailed results of this program, funded by the MID Fund, were examined by the Council of Ministers yesterday, Friday, Dec. 13. 

Also, gas consumption for the purpose of heating water for homes has decreased by 786 tonnes per year, while savings in electricity consumption is estimated at 3.4 gigawatt per year. Which resulted in a reduction of 5,204 tonnes in annual emissions of greenhouse gas emissions.
