Botswana Will Use Ports of Maputo and Beira
Botswana will have access to the Indian Ocean'' with the two Mozambican ports of Maputo and Beira (photo) to export its products, Radio Mozambique said.

An MOU was signed recently in this regard between Mozambique and Botswana in Gaborone, Botswana's capital, Mozambican radio reported.

Under the memorandum, Botswana will use the port of Maputo, southern Mozambique and the central port of Beira, in Sofala province.

Botswana is currently conducting an economic feasibility study of the project soon to export 2 million tonnes of coal per year, using these two Mozambican ports.

The radio quoted the Botswana Minister of Trade and Industry, Dorcus Makgato-Malesu, who said that the memorandum will strengthen technical cooperation between the Portuguese-speaking countries and Botswana.

Mozambique's Minister of Trade and Industry, Armando Inroga, for his part said that both nations are committed to further develop their cooperation. Both countries are members of the Community Development of Southern Africa.
