PRB Policy: Rs 282,000 per Month ...
The National Assembly will be asked to approve at its meeting Tuesday the new scale of allowances for ministers and parliamentarians as well as the President and the Vice-President of the Republic. Bills will be driven on by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.

This revision in the wake of the implementation of the salary recommendations of Pay Research Bureau (PRB) and Errors, Omissions and Anomalies Committee Dev Manraj , Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister's Office. The maximum monthly allowances paid to the political class, those of the president and prime minister, remains below the threshold of Rs 300,000. 

Bill entitled The President's Emoluments and Pension (Amendent) Bill, registered the agenda of parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, provides monthly allowances of Rs 288,000 or Rs 3.456 million per year, the President of the Republic with annual duty allowances of Rs 812 400. 

Meanwhile, the Vice-President Republic touch Rs 198,000 per month, Rs 2.376 million per year, and duty allowances of Rs 552,000. These new benefits will come into force with retroactive effect from 1 January as was the case for civil servants. 

The National Assembly Allowances (Amendment) Bill, recommends pay adjustments ranging from Rs 72,000 to Prime Minister to Rs 18,400 for members of the National Assembly compared with the scale adopted from the PRB report 2008. However, at this stage, no information is available regarding the revision of the fees paid to municipal mayors, presidents of the district council or political appointees under the titles of Senior Advisers and Advisers.
