In the evening, the shopkeeper at Brisée Verdière, aged 46, received a visit from a couple wanting to buy prepaid phone cards. However, he soon realized that the Rs 200 ticket issued by it was counterfeit and hastened to report the case to the police the same day, Wednesday, November 6.
The couple, he had already left the scene in a car. But as soon as it was alerted police Brisée Verdière is looking for him. The sleuths were able to intercept the car on the Royal Road. After a search, the police have seized 36 fake banknotes of Rs 200 hidden in the vehicle. The couple and two other occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
Following this case, the police asked the public to be vigilant about the circulation of counterfeit notes. And to report any cases that may be of interest to investigators.
