Presented by the Minister of Finance, Renganaden Padayachy, this bill makes provision for a budgetary supplement of Rs 50.3 million for the fiscal year 2021-22, with a view to financing excess expenditure incurred by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from the office of the Parliamentary Counsel. They are linked, mainly, to the application of the Pay Research Bureau (PRB) report, expenses relating to the organization of conferences and donations to foreign countries, among others.
According to Minister Padayachy, the measures relating to the implementation at the time of the PRB and for which expenditure exceeded the voted provision, made it possible to give a boost to consumption and stimulate economic activity in the country. This government, he said, did everything it could to “face the worst crisis in history which threatened the socio-economic dignity of the most vulnerable households in society”. And he insisted on the fact that the government will always stand alongside the population, more particularly those at the bottom of the ladder to improve their living conditions and their well-being. “We will continue to be driven by this humanist and progressive spirit.”
