This is actually two agreements. One concerns the delimitation of the maritime boundary between the Republic of Seychelles and the Comoros. The second fixed the triple point where joins the territorial waters of Seychelles, Comoros and Tanzania.
These boundary agreements were signed by Mr Jean-Paul Adam, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Bakri Mohamed Ben Abdoulfatah Sharif, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, responsible for the diaspora, la Francophonie and the Arab world, the Union of Comoros, and Bernard Kamillius Membe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, during a ceremony at the House of Quinssy Queau, the Ministry of Foreign Foreign.
The African Union was, in turn, represented at the ceremony by Murad Taiati, Head of Liaison Office of the AU in the Comoros. Germany, through the Giz, provides financial and technical AUBP, including the delimitation and demarcation of borders and border cooperation, in many Member States of the AU.
The signing of these agreements came two months after the conclusion in Maputo, Mozambique, December 5, 2011, also under the AUBP, agreements on the delimitation of maritime boundaries between the Comoros, Mozambique and Tanzania.
Agreements signed in Victoria are another step in the implementation of AUBP. Launched in 2007, the program has three main components: the delimitation and demarcation of borders that have not yet been cross-border cooperation and capacity building. The overall objective is to prevent conflicts and to deepen integration.
