Trading in the shares of petroleum product distributor Shell SHEL.MZ on the Mauritius bourse was suspended on Friday following media reports, the bourse said.
A local newspaper reported on Feb. 17 that an agreement between Shell and Vitol-Helios Investment was in the pipeline.
"Further to this press article, Shell has been requested to issue a communique forthwith ... to inform its shareholders and the public in general of the status of any agreement currently being discussed by Shell and the outcome thereof, if any."
"Pending the publication of an official communique by Shell, dealings in the shares of Shell are suspended on the Official List," the Mauritius Stock exchange said in a statement.
