The State Investment Corporation (SIC) intends to sell more than half of its shares in the Casinos of Mauritius

“SIC is in search of a strategic partner for les Casinos de Maurice. We will nonetheless keep 49% of the shares,” said the Director of SIC, Mr Iqbal Mallam-Hassam. Five years ago, les Casino de Maurice registered yearly profits of Rs100 million. Today it is running at a loss.

Piermont Global, a South African company, had proposed to buy 51% of the shares but it later backed out of the deal reportedly when it learned that 50% of the revenue had to be given to the State.
