The former HQ of the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) at Forest Side is to be made available to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology and will be used mostly for delivering lectures and as infrastructure for tertiary education.
The building will in future also accommodate the International Labour Office or may even provide office space for departments operating under the Attorney General.
This was revealed by Minister of Tertiary Education Rajesh Jeetah at the opening of the second edition of the Engineering Career-Oriented Fair 2011 at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium in Réduit yesterday.
He also said his ministry is working hard to transform the island into a tertiary education hub for the region.
Mr Jeetah said the fair, which will be open to the public until tomorrow, is a very good initiative by the Students’ Union and the Engineering Society of the University of Mauritius to increase the exposure of the students and future students to the world of industry.
