Since marathons are becoming very popular in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius Telecom (MT), in association with other stakeholders will be organising the fourth edition of the International Marathon Orange and Fun Run 2011 on June 26 at Mon Choisy.
Participants will have to cover a distance of 42 km and will start at 7 am in front of the Mon Choisy football ground.
This announcement was made at a press conference held on Thursday at the Telecom Tower, Port Louis.
A semi-marathon of 21 km and a fun race of 4.6 km will also be organised. This event coincides with International Olympic Day that is celebrated on June 23. It continues to attract a large number of international participants as well as Mauritian runners.
“Last year, 36 participants from different countries were present. This year, we are expecting greater foreign participation,” said Sarat Lallah, CEO of Mauritius Telecom.
“These events demonstrate that Orange wants to promote sporting activities in Mauritius and also to contribute to the good health of the people,” added the CEO.
