Bagatelle bridge to be ready in 2 monthes

The construction of Bagatelle bridge on the M1 Motorway is progressing rapidly. According to a source from the ENL group, construction work is scheduled to be complete by the end of July, two months before the grand opening of the Bagatelle Commercial Centre.

The aim of the bridge is to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the region and enable easy access to and from Bagatelle and other surrounding regions.

The bridge is situated over the M1 Motorway between Reduit and Colville Deverell bridge.

It will result in the closing of Martingale Junction. Motorists from Rose Hill currently accessing the motorway via Martingale will have to take the lane in front of Allied motors.

Thus, then can access the motorway just before Colville bridge.

Provision has also been made for the construction of a third lane as well as a bus lane to link Plaines Wilhems to Port Louis. Motorists driving from Port Louis after work can stop at Bagatelle and enjoy smooth traffic after peak hours.

The concept of crawler and fast lanes has also been planned to enable access to the M1 Motorway without slowing down traffic.

Construction work started in July 2010 and the consortium regrouping Rehm-Grinaker and Cogir won the contract. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 550 million.
