Change is expected in tourism. Sik Yuen is the Minister himself said that. He explained that his visit to the Tourism Fair, Top Resa, France, that drives him to want to innovate in this sector is a pillar of the Mauritianeconomy.
"Since becoming the tourism portfolio, I led the project to completely review the product, but since I visited the exhibition Top Resa 2011 I could find strategies to innovate this sector," he says.
One of the priorities of the Minister is to restore the visibility of the island as a tourist destination. And in this sense that the tourist has to innovate. "If we do not innovate, it would be wrong to do," says Michael Sik Yuen.
Indeed, the Minister argues that it is the changing habits of tourists that make the sector requires an adaptation."The world is changing and tourists are consumers who have changed their habits and tastes. So we have to adapt. "
Remember, however, that Michael Sik Yuen had ensured that he maintained the concept Islands Vanilla, used by his predecessor, Nando Bodha. This time, the current Minister of Tourism believes it is necessary to maintain the good projects while improving the worst.
"I work in the national interest and I do not want to get into a controversy. What other ministers have done before and is still applicable now, but if we keep to innovate, I am for the Climate Change Impacts ent, "says Michael Sik Yuen.
The Minister has not wanted to say more about the strategies adopted by the department. A press conference is scheduled this Friday, September 30
