The installation of the pipeline was completed last week, while hydraulic tests are being carried out and will continue for a few days.
Bishek Narain, communication manager of the Central Water Authority (CWA), said that the pipeline will be operational shortly. “The 5.4-km long pipeline is under hydraulic tests,” said Narain.
If the results are positive, “the pipeline will be operational and about 15,000 to 20,000 cubic metres of water will be transferred daily to La Marie treatment plant,” added Narain.
The Mare Longue reservoir is almost full at over 95 per cent capacity.
Narain added that the CWA intends to review the water supply in several regions for Diwali next week.
