The ceremony was in line with its 10th anniversary celebration.
The aim of the competition is to create awareness among young people about financial services, which is becoming one of the major pillars of economy.
The theme of the competition is ‘Sustaining the development of financial service in Mauritius’.
In her address, Clairette Ah-Hen, FSC chief executive stated, “Knowledge and awareness of the functioning of financial markets, including products, processes and procedures and enhancing scope and level of investor participation in the economic development is crucial.”
She said that the event focuses on young people who are the future leaders of the economy and it also reflects dynamism and innovative spirit of the staff of the commission. “For Mauritius to emerge as the financial hub of the East and West the link between Africa and Asia – we need new ideas as well as pioneering initiatives to spread financial literacy and financial inclusion,” said Ah-Hen.
Amit Ramjeet, FSC communication officer said that the contest will help secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate students acquire a thorough understanding of financial services. “It will encourage innovation and team spirit among the youth,” he added.
The competition is open to three categories namely the secondary level, undergraduate level and the postgraduate level.
