EDS was set up in 1999 and it was the first specialised networks and telecoms company in Mauritius.
The company installed the first IP telephony system, starting voice over IP communications and it brings knowhow and experience to local businesses. Hidenori Taguchi, head of B2B products, Japan Sony Professional the new services will include video security system with better resolution compared to other companies and B2B (business to business) video conference system.
“Video security system has already been installed at the airports and Mauritius Commercial Bank headquarters,” he added. The minister congratulated the EDS team for receiving the Innovation awards for the Tecoma 2011. “Technology is progressing very fast and it is essential that businesses understand what is on offer and how fast changing technology will affect their core business activities,” he said. Pillay said thats its important for companies to innovate in order to keep pace with the advent of new technologies. The ICT is viewed as a growing sector of the economy and it has considerably contributed in reducing the rate of unemployment and accounts for 6.4 per cent of the GDP.
“We are today not only celebrating the launch of new products and services but also making a step to where EDS and Sony, aims to arrive.” said the minister.
