Whether by choice or by circumstance, moving from a full-time role to a part-time one can be a tough transition. Here are three ways to demonstrate full-time efficiency in part-time hours:
Stay ahead of schedule. Because you're not working as many hours as your colleagues, it's important to stay organized and stick to deadlines. As a part-timer it's easier to fall behind when you don't have as many hours to catch up.
Make sure your schedule is understood. Don't make your colleagues wonder when they'll see you next. Share your schedule and be clear about what they can expect from you in terms of time commitments.
Leave directives in your absence. It's inevitable that issues and problems will arise while you're out. Tell your colleagues how those unforeseen questions should be handled: tell them how to reach you, designate a back-up person, or leave clear contingency plans.
