It will be organized by the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) in collaboration with the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Indian Ocean and the Indian Ocean Commission.
This will be the second time - the first was in 2007 - that Mauritius will host the FEIOI a platform for exchange of ideas and strategies between the business communities of the countries in the region and direct contacts with potential partnership projects. The MCCI has already established an organizing committee, led by its president, Ganesh Ramalingum to look at the details of the organization of the forum. The role of the organizing committee, said the House, "is to establish the format of the forum, to propose workshop topics that can be discussed, identify stakeholders and establish the program." Consultations to this effect take place with the main partner, the Indian Ocean Commission.
Like every year, says the MCCI, topics to be discussed are focused on facilitating trade and enhancing cooperation between the islands. For the 9th edition, the themes chosen are: a) connectivity - Air transport, maritime transport and ICT b) arbitration and dispute resolution, c) food security d) economic development - tourism and trade e) renewable energy.
Organizers emphasize that the workshops will take another dimension this year. "It will not only discussions that will lead to recommendations. This 9th edition will come from sectoral platforms led by representatives of the region, with the aim of achieving concrete programs to further strengthen regional cooperation in the sectors, "said do you.
The Organizers expect a good turnout from the actors of regional business community and representatives of the private institution and the public. They hope to welcome about 300 participants from Comoros, Madagascar, Mayotte, Reunion, Seychelles and Mauritius. It was announced, moreover, that Sri Lanka and the Maldives, two countries that have applied for membership of the IOC, will be invited.
A website to include the participation of representatives of the various islands and institutions will be launched in July.
