Migration To Eight Figures...
Mobile phone migration to eight digits went smoothly.

However, some problems have been encountered in converting applications directory numbers on some platforms like BlackBerry and Java level . According to Orange and Emtel , updates of these applications are under development .Operators and regulators appear satisfaction .
The transition process of mobile phone numbers from seven to eight digits Sunday took place without major problems . Several technical teams within three operators ( Orange and Emtel MTML ) were still waking in the night from Saturday to Sunday to monitor the progress of the conversion of numbers while the technical staff and customer services were consolidated at the same time . Side of Emtel , for example, the migration took less time than expected , it is being completed at around 1:30 Sunday morning , despite its 600,000 subscribers .
Of Orange , which has for its part an approximate number of 766,000 customers side operations have also gone well , despite the warning of the operator against risk of technical faults on the network. At 3:30 on Sunday , and the regulator had already received confirmation from operators that the process had been completed. The Information & Communication Technologies Authority ( ICTA ), which always keeps open its hotline ( the 161, Editor's note) , is currently conducting a review of the transition from seven to eight digits .
Habit changeIn practice , changing the numbering involves changing habits . For calls manually moved from a fixed position , for example, we must remember to add the prefix "5" before the usual number of seven-digit dialing. But those who forget to make the call automatically by an electronic voice announces who will run for one month for local calls. Ditto for those who would call from abroad, also a voice telling them of the changes made . In the latter case , however , the message will be broadcast over a period of three months. It is also recommended to subscribers who downloaded applications converting phone numbers , restart their mobile .
For those using the mobile Internet, they are asked to turn off and turn on their laptop and / or computer to continue to use the usual services . The telephone numbers of Yahoo, Google and Facebook accounts , among others, must indeed be updated by the client , so that these services take into account the change of phone number. Operation essentially required when requests password retrieval or authentication to these websites , which sends SMS to the mobile number specified by the user is performed .Those using Viber application for Android , however encounter some problems because these sites do not recognize the eight-digit numbers .
Viber uses indeed the telephone number as an identifier . Suddenly, the service can be used by Mauritians . The community of developers Maurice and several users have also written to the parent Viber to inform changes dials . "It should take a few days ," said a developer .In terms of free downloadable applications from online stores to automatically convert numbers in directories phones, they have proved very useful ... at least for those with a turning on the Android platform , iOS , Blackberry and Smartphone Java for Symbian phones. Unfortunately , some people - especially those with a Blackberry phone or running Java - the application has encountered a few bugs.
The conversion has indeed been done completely , the application converts a portion of the saved in the phonebook . Solicited , Orange and Emtel argue that updates are currently being developed and subscribers experiencing difficulties should contact their customer service.
