Beta Oil Terminal Ltd. plans to build three silos for the storage of fuel for boats . A site with an area of ??about one hectare has been identified in the port for this project .
Two silos have a storage capacity of 7,248 cubic meters and the third will be 5189 cubic meters. The project cost is estimated at Rs 400 million. It will employ 26 people . One hundred workers will be hired during the construction phase. This project will be operational next year , according to the developer .
Asked by The Early Bird Thursday Veekram Bhunjun , promoter, said that if all goes as planned the work in the port most likely begin in April 2014.
Fuel for ships
Veekram Bhunjun , proponent of the construction of three silos of petroleum products Red Sea said fuel storage will be used exclusively for refueling boats.
These silos will be equipped with all necessary and a network of distribution facilities . Beta Oil Terminal Ltd has also indicated its intention to install a pipeline with a diameter of 250mm between the pier of petroleum products terminal Beta Oil Terminal Ltd. for the supply of petroleum products. This pipeline will be 2.7km long .
The site where the developer proposes to go to build silos is located on land owned by the Mauritius Ports Authority ( MPA). In the Environment Impact Assessment report , Beta Oil Terminal Ltd says that now the State Trading Corporation imports petroleum products from Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Oil .

Beta Oil Terminal Ltd argues that if this is not done , the country will face an increase in the movement of vessels carrying petroleum products which will increase the cost of freight , the price of petroleum products. Beta Oil Terminal Ltd was established with the aim of transporting petroleum products in the country to meet the demand of petroleum products to the country.
The developer now wants access to new stage of its development through the storage of petroleum products.
