Vacancies in the Public Service
Public Service will be better off this year. It is, in fact, for the first time that the Civil Establishment Order (ECO) comes into force at the same time as the budget. Thus, departments and other government services can fill many vacancies. In total, some 900 people will be recruited as CEO. And that, as soon as possible.

Moreover, in a letter addressed to the Supervising Officers early this year, the Senior Chief Officer of the Public Service Sateeaved Seebaluck, asking them to engage all necessary procedures for the exercise of recruitment and promotion.

The wording of this correspondence reads as follows: " This is the first time that the CEO is effective concurrently with the annual budget. It has taken much effort and been a race against time to publish the documents in time. I therefore urge Supervising Officers to take appropriate action for the prompt filling of the vacancies during the financial year 2014 " One hundred new jobs will also be created.

Thus, the number of Police Women Constables increase from 677 to 733, that of the Medical Officers of 681-757, the firefighters of 634 to 710, that of Human Resource Executives from 161 to 202, the Office of Management Assistants 574 636 or that of Confidential Secretaries of 416-450. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the National Coast Guard, the Department of Social Security and the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and welfare are among the institutions that will be expanded.

However, some government departments and agencies will reduce the number of staffs or abolish certain positions. Thus, the number of affected Leading Hands regional administrations increased from 107 to 50, as the number of teachers that will be revised downward. "Degreasing will be phased," said the Senior Chief Officer of the Public Service.

Other recruitments are also expected as announced in the last budget, including 700 police officers.

The government's goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public service. Further strengthening in terms of human resources, special cells have been established to ensure better performance.
